Peter Jackson to co-write 'The Hobbit' film

London, Aug 21 (ANI): Oscar-winning director Peter Jackson will co-write the screenplays for the two-part adaptation of JRR Tolkien's 'The Hobbit', it has emerged.

According to US trade paper Hollywood Reporter, Jackson, who will act as executive producer on the eagerly awaited blockbusters due to be filmed in 2010, will be reunited with his writing partners from the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens.

Guillermo Del Toro, who is to direct the films, will also co-write the script, reports BBC.Written by Tolkien years before the Rings trilogy, 'The Hobbit' follows the life of a young Bilbo Baggins on his journey to kill a dragon accompanied by the wizard Gandalf.

The big-screen version will be split into two parts.

As with Lord Of The Rings, they will be shot simultaneously and released over consecutive years. (ANI)
