Chandigrh, Oct 8 (ANI): A major fire razed to the ground a tower built on the island in Sukhna Lake in Chandigarh on Wednesday.
The fire brigade, which rushed to the incident in time, struggled to reach the tower.
"We had no entry points. We had all the vehicles stand by. All the vehicles reached there on time, but they could not reach the tower. So, we had to put the fire off with buckets with AFT and nitrogen gas. This was the biggest challenge to reach there," said P K Sharma, Assistant Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Chandigarh.
The fire brigade, which could not press their state-of-the-art fire engines into service, used boats to reach the burning tower.
The tower, a structure of steel with wooden floors, was completely destroyed before the fighters could bring the flames under control in little over than two hours. (ANI)
