Indian Air Force unveils "Freedom to Wisdom" Tile Mural in Delhi
New Delhi, August 20 (ANI): The tile mural 'Freedom to Wisdom' was unveiled by Air Marshal J.N. Burma, Air Officer in-charge Administration, Air Headquarters in an impressive ceremony at Air Force Golden Jubilee Institute, Subroto Park here today.
Swapan Bhandary, an art teacher of the school created the tile mural on the school façade.

The mural includes 300 tiles of vivid colours and made on 90 Square feet wall of school entrance.
'Freedom to Wisdom' is theme of the Mural. 'Freedom to Wisdom' symbolizes the pursuit of knowledge and wisdom with freedom. The mural contains certain depictions. The apple represents Newton's famous discovery whereas the question mark is symbolic of child's young and inquisitive mind, which needs nurturing and encouragement.
The paper boat and the paper planes against an open window are symbolic of a child's desire to be close to the nature and not remain within the confines of a classroom. The very act of making and launching a paper plane in the class is the child's protest against the rigid academic format. The bird keen to soar high in the limitless sky depicts peace and freedom, whereas the flower symbolizes the fresh and innocent face of child. The steps denote various stages of development in the life of a child.
Bhandary, an alumnus of 'Santiniketan', has been faculty member of AFGIS since 1995. Besides imparting art lessons to his students, he has been holding Art Exhibitions in many prestigious art galleries in India and abroad. His latest art exhibition was a part of commonwealth week festival of Art and cultural in UK during March 2008.
On his arrival, Shipra Sarcar, Principal and Group Captain B.C.S. Bharathi, Chairman Managing Committee received the Air Marshal.
A large number of school children, teachers and staff were also present on the occasion. (ANI)
