Selection trials for Asia Cup junior hockey team start again
Bhopal, Sept 21 (ANI): The selection trials for the Asia Cup-bound India under-18 boys' hockey team has resumed at the Regional Centre of the Sports Authority of India (SAI) here.
The Asia Cup will be held in Yangon, Myanmar from November 14 to 22.
The 55 boys short-listed from various hockey academies across the country underwent medical tests before the first phase of training.
The selection committee consists of Balbir Singh, B.P. Govinda, Madhu Yadav and Munir Singh.
Balbir Singh said there was enough talent to groom a good team.
"I have been watching academy teams wherever I go, so potential is there. Junior hockey team players have to be groomed at this level. If we groom them properly, we will see the results but will take some time."
Two former captains Ajit Pal Singh and Zafar Iqbal are the observers. (ANI)
