Kathmandu, Sun, 20 Sep 2009 ANI

Kathamandu, Sept 20 (ANI): Pushkar Shah from Nepal, who pedaled around the globe, has returned home after completing a 11-year old odyssey on cycle.

Addressing a news conference here on Saturday, Shah said that though peace has not prevailed throughout the world, but Nepal was relatively peaceful, so his world cycling tour has been fruitful.

"My world tour aimed at showing peace has power. My tour was a war for peace. I got victory," he said.

Shah returned the 100-rupee note given to him by his mother at the time of beginning his journey, saying he did not aim to make money during his tour.

"I stared my world tour with a hundred-rupee note given to me by my mother 11 years ago. And I returned back the same to her as my tour did not aim at making money. I only needed money to repair my bicycle and food," he added.

His world cycling tour, which began from Charikot, ended in Croatia. He cycled 220,000 kilometers during his tour.

His world tour costs rupees 10.5 million. Shah's funds came from some organization and from the places he visited.

Shah plans to hoist the flags of 150 countries he travelled, atop Mount Everest in the year 2010. (ANI)
