Ex-Indian national's Pak citizenship documents destroyed in Secretariat fire

Islamabad, Sep. 16 (ANI): The file containing the record of an Indian who was granted Pakistani citizenship in 1991 has been destroyed, the Senate Committee on Interior was informed.

 

The committee was informed that the file containing important documents about the grant of Pakistani citizenship to Syed Sarwat Hussain was burnt during a fire in the Shaheed-e-Millat Secretariat in 2002.

 

Interior Ministry officials clarified before the committee that Hussain was given the country's citizenship after a complete security clearance.

 

It may be noted that Hussain was accused of smuggling drugs to Saudi Arabia. (ANI)
