Oct 23: The sensibility of Anurag Kashyap, Vishal Bhardwaj and Gulzar has come together and no doubt it’s going to soothe both our ear and eyes.

“No Smoking”, the latest flick revolves around the central character K played by John Abraham, who is a chain smoker. K’s life is hollow without fags…he is a prisoner of addiction.

The song penned down by Gulzar has added much more depth to the character, which John is playing in the movie.

Jab bhi cigrate jalti hai, Mein jalta hoon, Aaag pe paon padta hai, Kambhat dhuein mein chalta hoon, Jab bhi cigrate jalti hai, Main jalta hoon, Phir kisine jalali ek diya salai ,Aassman jal utha hai, Samne jhaag udai, Uble jaisa sulagta hoon, Kabmbhat dhuein mein jalta hoon,Lambe dhage dhuein ke…….

But hope peeped into his life when his wife Anjali (Ayesha Takia) persuades him to meet a mysterious man Baba Bengali, who runs a rehabilitation centre and helps people to get rid of the addiction.

K meets him and agrees to sign a freezed contract, as once agreed, one cannot get away with it. Soon he realises the authority of contracts and finds himself in a trap.

He challenged the agreement and finds himself torn between his past existence and the shadowy world embodied by Baba Bengali.

While his life takes a U-turn leaving many dots. Let’s wait for this strange yet interesting entertainer till Friday to settle the haze created in our mind, as where Baba, Anjali and K’s life leads.

The cast includes Ayesha Takia, Ranvir Shorey and Paresh Rawal. Ayesha Takia delivers a double role in the movie, as John Abraham’s wife Anjali as well as his secretary Honey.

Vishal Bharadwaj and Kumar Mangat jointly produce this film, under the banner Big Screen Entertainer.

The movie has a special item number by Bipasha Basu. Bharadwaj composes the song ‘Phook De’. Another song ‘Jab Bhi Cigarette Jalti Hai’ has model Jesse Randhawa in a special appearance.

Vishal Bharadwaj is the music director; known for his unique composing and depth in poetry. Gulzar has added flavour in the film with his lyrics. Singers Sukhwinder Singh, Daler Mehendi, Vishal Bharadwaj, Rekha Bharadwaj, Deva Sen Gupta, Sunidhi Chauhan and Adnan Sami gave a new variety to the movie and its songs.

Gulzar has beautifully spanned the word and it truly tells the story of an addict who smokes his life slowly to an unknown world. Lambe dhaage dhuen ke, Saans silne lage hain..Pyaas udhti hui lagi..Honth chhilne lage hain…Shaam hone lagi hai…Laal hone lagi hai…and the song Aas paas kuch nahi jee udaas hai zara, Dard sabz hai abhi mujhko raas hai jara, Hayaat phoonk de, Hawaas phoonk de, Saans se sila hua libaas phoonk de……
