The watch had historic significance as it was gifted to Shastri by his Russian counterpart Alexei Kosygin during the Tashkent conference in 1966.

"The historical importance of that watch is too much. It was gifted to him by Russian President and is thus, priceless. I'm from the field of history, I'm not here to determine its cost, it is as I told you, priceless," said Kundan Singh, Assistant Curator of Lal Bahadur Shastri Museum.

The authorities of the memorial discovered the theft on September 3, but reported the theft on September 7.

According to reports, a complaint has been lodged in the Tughlak Road police station under Section 380 (theft) of the IPC, and officials of the memorial said that an independent inquiry was conducted into the incident by the memorial, but they were unsuccessful in their task. (ANI)
