Self-exiled Ghous Ali Shah returns to Pak after seven years

Karachi, Aug.17 (ANI): Former Sindh Chief Minister Ghous Ali Shah touched down at Karachi Airport on Sunday morning, returning to Pakistan after seven years in exile.

 

Shah entered politics as a student. As a lawyer, he practiced in Khairpur and Karachi. He remained as President of Khairpur Bar Association for long period of time. He became as a judge of Sindh High Court during the 1980.

 

He was given the portfolio of several ministries in Sindh government during 1980s and served as a Chief Minister of Sindh during 1985-88. Shah is considered to be the close ally of Nawaz Sharif, a friend of Hakim Ali Zardari and Pir Pigara.

 

During Sharif's first term as Prime Minister, he served as Pakistan's Defence Minister and was the country's Education Minister in 1997.

 

According to The News, Shah left the country on October 27, 2001, and remained in Jeddah in self-imposed exile for seven years.

 

Sindh Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah had arranged for foolproof security arrangements for the PML-N Sindh president's arrival.

 

The National Accountability Bureau had registered several cases against him for alleged recruitments in the Civil Aviation Authority but the court had acquitted him in 2007. (ANI)
