Hindustan easily prevails over Gorkha Regiment
Oct 20: Local outfit Hindustan club had an easy outing in their opening qualifying match in the 120 th Osian’s Durand Cup football tournament, when they prevailed over 11Gorkha Regiment 4-0, riding on Mahendra’s brace in the match played at the Ambedkar stadium here on Friday.

Hindustan FC Daniel drew first blood in the 15th minute of the match. Hindustan players displayed some attacking football in the first half but could not be able to extend their lead, as they were leading with only a one-goal margin at halftime.
On changing the ends, Hindustan FC sustained their pressure in the rival citadel with repeated raids and surged ahead in the 73rd minute but this time by Manish Mathani’s beautiful strike.
Hindustan FC players coordinated like a fine weaved unit and shown some attractive passes and long range shots during the match. Hindustan FC Sarfarosh Khan was the lone yellow card receiver of the match for dangerous tackling.
Hindustan FC Mahendra dominated the dying moments of the match as he struck twice consecutively in the 83rd and the 91st minute to seal the fate of the opponents, leading the final tally to 4-0.
“I am happy with the score line, but we can play better. I am not complaining but the challenge ahead would be stronger so we better get our act together,” said the coach of Hindustan and former Mohun Bagan player Bernard Oparanozie, after his wards started their campaign on winning note.
Hindustan will have to counter BSF to qualify for Durand main round.
