Trescothick out of consideration for one-off Ashes comeback
London, Aug 13 (ANI): Retired England batsman Marcus Trescothick would not be considered for the final Ashes Test match to be played at the Oval.
Accrding to reports, Trescothick and the England selectors have met several times and the decision has been taken not to make him available for duty, even in a one-off special case.
"The conversation with Tres has taken place and the situation remains the same," The Mirror quoted Geoff Miller, England chief selector, as saying.
The selectors realised that Trescothick would not dismiss any request to make a return to the England squad, due to his longstanding love for his country.
However, the selectors took Trescothick's stress-related illness into consideration and came to a conclusion that any return could be damaging to both the player and the team under such huge scrutiny, something that contributed to Trescothick's stress-related illness in the past. (ANI)
