Border sealing in the Rann of Kutch goes full swing

Delhi, Sat, 05 May 2007 NI Wire

May 05: India is extending its barbed wire fencing along the border, deep inside the Rann of Kutch, in Gujarat, to evade infiltration from Pakistan. Just across the barbed wire fencing, stand the white border pillars, from where the Pakistani territory begins. One can even see Pakistan outposts and at times Pakistani flags atop their outposts from Vigho Khot.

It is a vast barren, treacherous terrain extending for several kilometers. This region falls in the periphery of Rann of Kutch in Gujarat. The entire area, which starts after the India Bridge, is a highly regulated area and under the control of Border Security Force.

It is on this scorched and marshy terrain that Golden Katar Division-troops of one of Indian Army's elite Infantry Division, through its Bald Eagle Brigade undertake constant vigil and imparts painstaking training during the peacetime, in the Kutch peninsula.

To prevent intrusion at night, the work is going on in full swing. Electric lines are being laid, installation of large lights and power station are taking place at a fast pace.

Simultaneously, the BSF jawans are keeping a meticulous vigil on the porous border for suspicious movements. Number of bunkers is dotted around that area, in which the Indian soldiers can be seen day and night performing their duties. It is really commendable for any one who is managing to sustain in almost brutal conditions over there.

The jawans particularly are doing a terrific job by maintaining their discipline and making full use of the free time by undergoing trainings, in which they learn to work in a more controlled environment, in these conditions. All in all the Indian jawans are giving their fullest to bring the long lived intrusion to its end.
