Ajmer, Aug.4 (ANI): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday visited the famous Ajmer Sharif Dargah in Rajasthan and offered prayers seeking peace and harmony for his State.

Omar Abdullah accompanied by his wife offered a velvet "Chaddar" (shroud) and baskets of flowers at the shrine, which is devoted to Sufi saint Hazrat Khwaja Muinuddin Chisty

"When something good happens in one's life one should thank (God) instead of always asking for some favour. It's not always necessary to ask for something, sometimes if people thank for I think that itself is a great thing," said Omar Abdullah, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister.

It may be recalled that Omar had recently resigned from the post of Chief Minister after being accused by his opponents that he was involved in the sex scandal that rocked Jammu and Kashmir in 2006.

"We always pray for the peace of Kashmir. For the last twenty years whatever we have gone through, we pray that should be over with the blessings of the Nawaz Sahib. If it is solved early, it will not only benefit our state but the entire country."

Abdullah had resigned following the Opposition parties' in the State Assembly claim that his name figured in the charge sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the scandal.

People's Democratic Party (PDP) leader Muzaffar Hussain Baig on July 28 had linked Omar Abdullah with the infamous sex scandal.

However, the Union Home Minister P. Chidambaram later clarified that Omar Abdullah's name did not figure in the charge sheet filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the sex scandal but the PDP accused the CBI of shielding Abdullah.

The scandal is still under investigation.(ANI)
