New York, Aug 13 (ANI): Hollywood hunk George Clooney's production company, Smokehouse, has reportedly bought the movie rights to a book about Osama bin Laden's one-time driver.

According to Britain's The Guardian newspaper, the 'Leatherheads' star is planning to make a film based on journalist Jonathan Mahler's book, 'The Challenge,' which details the life and trial of Osama bin Laden's driver, Salim Hamdan, reports the New York Daily News.

Hamdan, a resident of Guantanamo Bay for seven years, was convicted by a U.S. military tribunal of aiding the international terrorist and was sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison.

In his book, Mahler reportedly portrays the driver and his Navy lawyer, Charles Swift, sympathetically as the 'little guys' up against the 'powerful forces of the U.S. government.'

During the trial, Swift insisted that Hamdan only took the high-paying job in order to raise his family. (ANI)
