Jamshedpur, Aug.2 (ANI): In a unique expression of love and friendship, many Kindergarten students tied ribbons as friendship bands to animals and trees at a Jamshedpur zoo to mark the Friendship Day here on Sunday.

The little children tied ribbons of different colours around several animals like the rabbits and ducks. It looked as if the zoo inmates were happy with the presence of their new 'friends'.

The kids tied friendship bands' to animals, plants, and trees at the Tata Zoological Gardens of Jamshedpur.

The zoo authorities on the occasion of Friendship Day, which was celebrated in different parts of the country on Sunday by youngsters by greeting their close friends, had especially invited these little guests.

School teachers accompanying these kids said that they believed in celebrating Friendship Day with animals and plants whereby the kids will become sensitive to Mother Nature.

"These (kids) are learning how to live cordially with pet animals and plants. They are enjoying a lot," said Priyanka Singh, a teacher.

Friendship Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of August. The trend started in 1935 when the United States Congress proclaimed the first Sunday of August as the National Friendship Day.
