Hamilton: Injured Massa was always on my mind during Hungary victory

London, July 28 (ANI): Lewis Hamilton has said that there "wasn't a moment" during Sunday's victorious Hungarian Grand Prix when injured Felipe Massa wasn't on his mind.

Massa was injured after crashing during the qualifiers the day before. He lost control of his car when a piece of flying debris hit his helmet at 162 m p h and he ploughed into a tyre wall.

The debris was a spring that had fallen from Rubens Barrichello's car suspension and weighed almost a kilo when travelling at that speed. It ripped Massa's helmet open and badly cut his left eye.

He was airlifted to hospital and the doctors placed him in a medically induced coma. His pregnant wife, Raffaella, was flown over from South America to be by his bedside.

This morning the doctors said there would be no guarantee that the Brazilian would race again as fears grew over injuries to his left eye.

But they said there was no immediate danger to his life despite concerns over a swelling found during the monitoring process.

"My thoughts go out to Felipe and his family - in particular to his wife and baby that's on the way," The Mirror quoted Hamilton, as saying.

"I was so shocked about what happened on Saturday and there wasn't one moment in the race when he wasn't in my mind. It was a very unexpected accident and none of us can imagine what pain he was feeling," he added. (ANI)
