Ex-New Zealand PM Helen Clark was "sex bomb" in saucy black boots
Melbourne, July 20 (ANI): Former New Zealand Prime Minister Helen Clark was once thought of as a "sex bomb" in saucy black boots, reveals a new biography.
The unauthorised biography, Helen Clark, sheds light on many of the ex-Labour leader's unknowns: her sense of humour, love of gossip, ability to hold a grudge, and her sex appeal.
A leading trade unionist told author Denis Welch that during the 1980s, Clark would turn heads by dressing all in black, and wearing big black boots.
The New Zealand Herald reported that at one party in 1985, young men were "salivating over Helen Clark and her boots".
According to Matt McCarten, New Zealand's trade union leader, "she was a sex bomb!", a claim backed-up by Laila Harre, a former politician in Clark's first cabinet.
"She was actually, from a left-wing point of view. We don't have very high standards!" News.com.au quoted Harre as saying.
Clark, whose nine-year reign as prime minister ended with an election defeat last November, has since moved to New York to take up a senior post with the United Nations. (ANI)
