London, July 18 (ANI): Former model Carla Bruni will sing two duets with Dave Stewart today as part of the worldwide 91st-birthday tribute to Nelson Mandela.

This will be the former model's first public performance since becoming the First Lady of France.

The two friends plan to sing her composition Quelqu'un m'a dit (Someone told me) and Bob Dylan's Blowin' in the Wind, reports The Times.

The concert will take place at Radio City Music Hall in New York. It will be one of the many events that will highlight the achievements of South Africa's first black president.

Other artists scheduled to perform include Stevie Wonder, Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, Queen Latifah, will.i.am (of The Black Eyed Peas), Wyclef Jean, Cyndi Lauper and the Soweto Gospel Choir.

Meanwhile, Mandela will spend his birthday with family and friends at home in the village of Qunu, in Eastern Cape Province as he's too frail to travel.

"We are humbled by the call for an annual Mandela Day in our honour. It is our hope that people will dedicate their time and effort to improve the conditions within their own communities," the 1993 Nobel Peace laureate said in a videotaped message prepared for his birthday. (ANI)
