Karachi, Aug 11 (ANI): Activities of Pasban Pakistan, a socio-political organisation, held a demonstration outside the Karachi Press Club last evening in favour of Pakistani doctor Aafia Siddiqi who is under trial in the US for her alleged links to al Qaeda.

Scores of people chanted slogans against Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf and his US counterpart George Bush and demanded her immediate release.

"Musharraf should also face this (terror) charge during the impeachment," an activist demanded.

President of Pasban Pakistan, Altaf Shakoor said that if Dr Aafia faed any terror charges, she should have been tried in her home country rather being extradited to the US.

"Why did he hand over innocent Pakistani citizens to other countries? If there were any charges against Dr Aafia for her alleged involvement in any suspicious activities or links with al Qaeda then she should have faced a court of law here in her own country," the Daily Times quoted Shakoor as saying.

The protesters also said that the US was also violating international justice and humanitarian laws for trying someone for a case that did not even occur in its jurisdiction. (ANI)
