To show solidarity with PPP, PML-N to rejoin Gilani cabinet today
Islamabad, Aug 11 (ANI): In a gesture of solidarity with the PPP after it agreed to impeach President Pervez Musharraf and restore sacked Supreme Court judges, the PML-N is expected to rejoin the federal cabinet today, after staying away for nearly three months.
Senior PML-N leader Ahsan Iqbal confirmed that he and the other three ministers would rejoin the federal cabinet on Monday.
Nine cabinet members of the PML-N, including Ahsan Iqbal, Rana Tanveer Hussain, Sardar Mehtab Ahmed Khan and Khawaja Saad Rafique, had pulled out of the Yousuf Raza Gilani government in May after the PPP showed reluctance in impeaching Musharraf and restoring the sacked Supreme Court judges, reported the Daily Times.
The two issues of Musharraf's impeachment and restoration of sacked judges was agreed upon between the PPP and the PML-N in the Murree Declaration.
Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and PPP Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari had made repeated requests to PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif to ask his party members to rejoin the cabinet.
Last Thursday, Sharif announced that his party would rejoin to express solidarity with the PPP, adding that all his ministers would resume their duties after the impeachment of President Musharraf and reinstatement of sacked judges. (ANI)
