Bog Snorkelling Triathlon completed in world record time of 2hrs 21minutes 5secs

London, July 6 (ANI): A 30-year-old man has won this year's Bog Snorkelling Triathlon in Llanwrtyd Wells, mid Wales, in a world record time of two hours 21 minutes and five seconds.

Dan Bent from Richmond, Surrey, who is about to cycle 9,000 miles to India for charity, said that it was one of the hardest events he had ever done.

His 26-year-old sister Natalie Bent, from Maidstone, Kent, claimed the women's title by completing the exhausting course in three hours 11 minutes and 55 seconds. To cross the finish line, competitors have to run seven-and-a-half miles, complete two lengths of the town's infamous 135-foot long, six-foot deep bog and cycle 19 miles across the most demanding of mountain terrain. "We did it last year and it seemed so much harder than last year," the Telegraph quoted Bent as saying.

"I must have tried to numb the memory of it. On the run you are kept going up hill and up hill and then you have to run down rivers.

"On the bike you are having to jump off cliff edges as well. It is really, really tough but I love that stuff. There is nothing wrong with a bit of pain!" he added.

His sister said that she felt "on top of the world" to win the women's event.

The shortened junior course was won by 16-year-old Alex Copestake, who crossed the line after one hour 55 minutes and 23 seconds.

The relay event was won by Joel Tompkins, Joshua Perkins and Gareth Buston.

Sheelagh Tompkins, one of the organisers, called the event a big success.

"It was a really, really good day and we had a little of a breeze for the competitors which was nice because it is such a gruelling event," she said.

"Everybody had a brilliant time but they're all really tired now," she added. (ANI)
