The man in “nowhere” will be seen “everywhere.” The Bollywood’s one of the biggest heartthrob actor turned producer, director and screen writer has now taken a giant leap in the garb of brand ambassador for “Atithi Devo Bhava” campaign for the Union Ministry of Tourism. This is none other than the ‘solitary lover’ Aamir Khan, who prefers to sit in home rather than attending parties, functions and collecting trophies, who will now sell Incredible India to the foreign travellers.
Although the inherent connection between the Bollywood stars and the social work can be traced long back, but this is for the first time in the history of Indian Tourism Ministry that has endorsed an actor for its promotional campaign.
Aamir Khan will be seen promoting the Ministry of Tourism’s efforts to woo tourists through print and electronic media to enhance social awareness about the needs of the domestic and foreign tourists especially women tourists.
The decision was taken at a meeting here on Friday between the Union Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni and Aamir Khan himself.
Soon after attending the meeting Aamir Khan, during his address to the media said: “I will not charge anything from the Ministry of Tourism for such campaign.”
The Incredible India campaign is a beautiful campaign and we have to take it ahead for our country. “Our people are sweet, warm, welcoming and hospitable and this we need to show to the world.”
Ambika Soni expressed hope that Aamir’s mass appeal will further boost Tourism Ministry's efforts to make people aware about the safety and security of tourists, hygiene, sanitation and vandalisation of historical monuments.
She said that her ministry will work on the mission in consultation with Aamir Khan on “how to sensitize people against harassment of tourists particularly women tourists.” Tourism sector has vast potential both for employment generation and better income for those who are associating with it. She hoped that association of Aamir Khan will undoubtedly fetch desired results.
