Oct 06: In the wee hours of Saturday fire of a massive level broke out in the Mayur Bhavan in Connaught Place which houses several private and government offices including the Income Tax Office and Delhi Tourism.

But in spite of hours of continuous effort the seventh floor that constitutes office of the Income Tax department and Directorate of General Administration completely burnt down.

The reason for fire break out is yet to be known but a high amount of valuable documents from both offices have been completely destroyed. The building also shelters a couple of pharmaceutical companies hence over all loss can not be estimated as far as the valuable official credentials are concerned.

Reportedly two persons who were inside the nine-storied building came out safely and no report of major causalities. As told by one of the fire extinguishers the fire didn’t multiply to other floors but completely gutted the seventh floor as the wall prevent it spread to other floors. This is the reason that within hours the entire floor gutted.

First there were 25 fire tenders later increased to 40 as it was not easy to control the out of proportionately rising flames inside the building with enclosed glass windows and walls.
