Jammu, Fri, 08 Aug 2008 NI Wire

Social activist and journalist Balraj Puri has appealed to the all party delegation which is visiting Jammu on August 9 to consider the long term causes of regional tensions and recommended constitutional guarantees for equitable share in political power to the three regions of the state be instituted. Otherwise, he warned, regional discontent would burst out for one excuse or the other.

He said that he has already spoken to the Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and the leader of the opposition Mr. L K Advani on the subjects, as also to leaders of the two main regions of the state and is hopeful that a consensus can be evolved if all leaders and intellectuals pool their heads to restore regional harmony.
