Minorities opposed to militancy: ASIF

Tue, 01 Jan 2008 ANI

New Delhi, Aug.8 (ANI): The All India Minorities Front today welcomed Union Governments renewed initiative to ban SIMI and said that the minority communities in the country were opposed to all sorts of militancy.

In a statement issued here ASIF president S.M.Asif said Muslims of the country are facing the wrath of the police and the government whenever any militants activity takes place anywhere in the country.

"They are picked up indiscrimately and released generally after filling the pockets of policemen in the name of "corrupt relating charges" but even then the Muslims in general are committed to patriotism and are with India. However the Muslims generally do not support the orthodox militant styles of SIMI," he said.

He accused Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and Steel Minister Ram Vilas Paswan of supporting the SIMI only for grabbing the votes of Muslims. Describing such tie-ups as unholy, he said Samajwadi Party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav was also guilty of extending support to the banned organisation.

The AIMF chief said he would expose the truth before the people of the country and ensure that culprits compromising national security would not go scot free. (ANI)
