Poonch under curfew following communal clashes
Srinagar, Aug 8 (ANI): Curfew was imposed across Poonch District following clashes between Hindus and Muslims on Friday.
Both communities held demonstrations over the Shri Amaranth Shrine Board (SASB) land allotment issue.
Stone throwing mobs targeted places of worship of both communities.
Poonch is among the seven major towns in Jammu region where the agitation is on for the last five weeks.
Curfew has been imposed in the towns of Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Rajouri, Bhaderwah and Poonch.
Meanwhile, soldiers of the newly raised Yol based 9 corps, which is based in Himachal Pradesh, have been deployed in Jammu and its adjoining regions.
About 45 Army columns, each consisting of 100 personnel, have been deployed to maintain law and order.
The army is being assisted by two columns of central paramilitaries. (ANI)
