Oct 03: While talking to a T.V. news channel CNN IBN, Janta Dal (Secular) party supremo HD Deve Gowda made it clear that his party will not revert back to congress for the support of government in case BJP withdraws the support.

Taking a tough stance he ruled out any possibility of transfer of power to BJP as was agreed by HD Kumaraswamy in a power sharing pact with BJP.

He also said that his son does not need the support of any party to run the government. He also said that CM alone cannot decide about the power transfer, he will have to face the assembly first before taking any decision. This is a matter to be decided by MLAs and not CM alone.

He also held the deal between BJP and Kumaraswamy as invalid.

This is to be reminded that October 3 rd was the dateline set in the agreement for power transfer according to which JD(S) was supposed to vacate CM seat for a BJP candidate that is BS Yediyurappa. But Kumaraswamy refused to quit following which 19 BJP ministers resigned as a protest and to mount pressure on its partner in the government.

After the expiry of the deadline set by BJP for Chief Minister Kumaraswamy to step down in favour of BJP candidate Yashwant Sinha announced the resignation of all the ministers maintaining at the same time that coalition is still not over.

Though Kumaraswamy earlier maintained that he was ready to quit but BJP ministers resigned hastily without consulting him. He termed the act as childish and said that such conduct will create hurdles in the transfer process. He also said that any decision on power transfer will be taken after the party’s political affairs committee meeting in Delhi scheduled to be held on October 05.

He also said that he is ready to face any situation either run government or face assembly elections. He also blamed BJP for complicating the affair which could have been smooth transfer of power. He said that now it would not be that easy to transfer the power. He also talked of eroded confidence in BJP.

Keenly observing the whole developments on the state congress has kept quite till yet and adopted a wait and watch policy. “We are watching the situation closely” said the AICC general secretary Prithvi Raj Chavan. Till now congress has managed to keep itself aloof from the internal conflict of the government.

Despite the resignations submitted to and accepted by CM will wait till the national executive meeting of JD(S) is over and will keep a close watch over the developments.

Next two days may be full of happening in the political arena of Karnataka. Anything can happen as has also been indicated by HD Deve Gowda. Even a possibility of mid term polls in the state can not be ruled out.
