Mumbai, June 9 (ANI): The Mumbai court will hear a bail plea of Sheetal Mafatlal, president of Mafatlal Luxury, today.
Sheetal was on Monday sent to judicial custody till June 12 by the court. She was detained on Sunday upon arrival from London at the Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport for allegedly carrying undisclosed jewellery and diamonds worth several lakhs of rupees.
The customs officials had intercepted the noted socialite on specific information and recovered undisclosed jewellery estimated to be between Rs 51 lakh and one crore from her bag.
She was booked under relevant sections of the Indian Customs Act.
Meanwhile, Mafatlal's lawyer Satish Maneshinde has said that the arrest has been done at the instance of some disgruntled opponent of Atulya, her husband and scion of Mafatlal industries.
Her lawyer has also established the exact value of the seized jewellery.
"Sheetal had 51 items in her possession including bangles, chains and rings and the most valuable jewellery was worth Rs 2.5 lakh. The jewellery was given to her by her father-in-law and was used ones," Maneshinde said. (ANI)
