Gulab Garh (J-K), June 8 (ANI): Militants looted food supplied to residents in Gulab Garh village of Jammu and Kashmir when they were returning home.
The Gulab Garh village has a rough terrain and is virtually isolated for want of a proper road. Hence, residents have to walk several kilometres to purchase rations from the government dealer. Ponies are used to carry sacks. On their way back, militants looted the rations.
"When poor people return carrying ration laden on horses and ponies, they are intercepted by militants who loot the ration. These militants have hideouts in hills and forests. Poor people don't have money to purchase food everyday so they have to remain hungry," said Mohd. Subhan Malik, a resident.
Militants get a free hand, as security forces can't reach the village due to lack of proper roads.
A road linking Gulab Garh to nearby village, Angrala is already under construction.
"A road has been proposed from Gulab Garh to Angrala. The total length of the proposed road is 28 km out of which 10 km of road has been constructed. The work for the completion of this road is in full swing," said Abdul Rashid, sub divisional magistrate (SDM), Mohare. (ANI)
