Hyderabad space Meet; ISRO unveiled plan for future space mission

Oct 01 : To boost India’s space programme, which is all set to enter into its second phase ISRO is looking forward to use nuclear energy to propel the future rockets, to explore distant planets.

G Madhavan Nair, ISRO chairman said “It would not be required before, say 2030 or even beyond that. But yes, ultimately we have to be looking at that”.

He said that the use of nuclear energy is not going to happen in the near future but ISRO wants to start early and be ready with the technology in time.

The challenge before using nuclear technology to propel future rocket will be to package and safety related to nuclear fuel.

Nuclear energy will be able to address the major problem as it will be able to provide huge energy with small quantity.

ISRO is also planning to send manned mission to moon and exploring MARS is also in the future plan.

ISRO chairman said that they are ready to consider any concrete proposal by the scientist on manned mission to moon.

This four day International Space Congress marks the opening of sharing of various technologies with the other countries.

Sunita Williums said “I think when we leave the world; we have to leave it as human beings and not as citizens of any particular country; not to mention the economic benefits of sharing these technologies and sharing these goals. I think this will help make the planet more peaceful”.

Rakesh Sharma said “The French call them spaceunauts, the Chinese call them taikonauts. We will need to come up with a name for our space travelers. But I think we will see an Indian in space very shortly”.

Rakesh Sharma is the first Indian to go in the space. And when being asked by Indira Gandhi as how does India look from above ha said “Sare jaha se acha hindustan hamara…”

ISRO unveiled plans for 60 space missions in the next five years. Four of its mission will be completed by 2008 including Chandrayan 1.

With only 10% failure India was nominated as a favorite launch destination.
