New Delhi, August 5 (ANI): Chief of Army Staff General Deepak Kapoor today launched e-Post service that will benefit not only the soldiers, but also their families.
General Kapoor praised the important role being played by the Army Postal Services personnel especially in the remote locations, and pointed out that the Field Post Offices (FPO) had been the life line for the soldiers.
The Army Chief said: "It needs no emphasis that constant and ready contact with near and dear ones is amongst the foremost of morale boosters that keep the spirits of our soldiers high and buoyant."
"The FPO has, over the years been the lifeline of troops in the field area both during operations in not only handling personal communication but also extending financial services and insurance cover beside SDS services," General Kapoor said.
He also added that the soldiers are stationed at such locations where communication facilities are restricted.
He further said, "With the launch of the e-post facility for the Armed forces personnel, the Army Postal Service today has entered into a new era of providing speedy and effective communication services to the Indian Army."
Chief of the Army Staff launched the service by transmitting a message to remote locations in Northern and Eastern sector. Initially the e-post service is being launched in 177 FPOs where the connectivity is easily available. (ANI)
