National,Business, Tue, 26 May 2009 IANS

New Delhi, May 26 (IANS) Delhi's new industrial policy is likely to be announced by early August, an official statement said Tuesday.

The new policy was formulated taking into account the guidelines included in the Master Plan for Delhi-2021.

'It is expected that after getting the approval of the Delhi cabinet the policy would be announced by July-end or early August 2009,' the statement said.

The decisions were taken at a review meeting of industries department of the Delhi government Tuesday, presided over by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit.

During the meeting, Dikshit said her government would encourage service sector industries in the city state.

The meeting was attended by Industries Minister Haroon Yusuf and senior officials at the department.

'The industries department has initiated the process for operation and management of four industrial estates - Patparganj, Narela, Bawana and Okhla Phase-III - through public-private partnership (PPP),' the release said.

The department has also decided to put in position a single window clearance system for issue of approvals, no objection certificates (NOCs) and licences required for setting up industrial enterprises.

'The department would devise common application forms for seeking clearances from various departments and there would be a time-bound disposal,' the statement said.

Regarding the city state's special economic zone (SEZ) policy, the release said: 'The government notified its SEZ policy Feb 12, 2009 to facilitate setting up SEZs in hi-tech areas. Six proposals were received out of which two, related to gems and jewellery and IT, are being considered.'

At present, there are 29 industrial estates and four-flatted factory complexes in the state.
