Delhi can expect more hailstorms and thundershowers: Weatherman

National, Mon, 25 May 2009 IANS

New Delhi, May 25 (IANS) Delhiites can hope to have respite from heat for a few more days with the Met department forecasting hailstorms and thundershowers in the region in the coming days.

The capital Monday recorded a minimum temperature of 24.6 degrees Celsius, two degrees below normal while the maximum was 37.7 degrees Celsius, three degrees below normal.

The temperatures are like to remain unchanged - with the minimum likely to hover around 24 degrees and maximum at around 38 degrees Celsius.

'Partly cloudy sky, hailstorm and thundershowers are expected. Temperatures will come down as a result,' an official at the Safdarjung Met Department told IANS.

According to the Met office, the fall in the temperature is due to an upper cyclonic circulation over Pakistan and easterly winds.

The humidity level will remain at a comfortable 31 percent, the official added.
