Thousands displaced by floods in Uttar Pradesh
Lucknow, August 5 (ANI): Thousands of people have been displaced by floods in many villages around Lucknow, and they are being forced to spend nights in makeshift tents.
The flooding of several villages due to heavy rains has brought life to a standstill in these villages.
Though the rains have subsided, the rivers are flowing above the danger mark and have cut off hundreds of villages from the rest of the country.

According to official sources, 311 villages have been inundated and around 21 lives have been lost in the floods.
The villagers, who are now living in make shift tents, are complaining that the floods have made them paupers.
Moreover, there is fear of outbreak of water borne diseases amongst the villagers.
Authorities have said that relief work has been speeded up in all the flood affected areas and mobile teams have been deputed to meet any emergency and to control spread of infectious diseases.
Five rivers in the region, the Sharda, Ghagra, Rapti, Budhi Rapti and the Kuano have crossed the red mark and are flowing above the danger level. (ANI)
