Jaipur, May 22 (ANI): The ongoing global economic slowdown has given the upcoming artists here an opportunity to improve the quality of their work and sell them at cheaper prices.
Due to the decreasing demand, the artists in Jaipur have more time to concentrate on quality and not quantity of their work.
These artists believe that producing large quantities of work is worthless as not many people are buying artwork. It is only art connoisseurs who remain loyal customers but with a strict eye for quality work.
"Formerly, we used to focus on the quantity of the work more than the quality. But now, people are focussing on the quality of the work more. We are making efforts towards providing the best quality work to people," said, Pradeep, an upcoming artist.
The recession has proved to be windfall for these artists as exhibitors are showing more interest in their work, which is comparatively low priced.
"We used to exhibit only professional painters works which were heavily priced. But now, we are exhibiting new and upcoming artists as well. Their paintings are comparatively low priced.
Their work is kind of all purposive. It is low priced and fulfils the decorative purpose as well. We are exhibiting paintings in all price ranges," said Pawan Bhandari, a gallery owner.
Jaipur has been famous for various types of paintings such as those made on walls, cloth and also miniature paintings.
Paintings from Jaipur have a good international market and a good quantity of work is exported as well.
The ongoing financial slowdown has otherwise forced artists to slash down the prices of their paintings since the demands are low. (ANI)
