Even after ten years of release of her first bollywood movie she is still known as Tere Naam girl. Latest news of Bhumika Chawla can still be seen in several newspapers and magazines. But it is relevant to know that Tere Naam was not the first film she has acted in. Before venturing on to the Hindi film industry she had started his acting career in Yuvakudu a Telugu film. From then on this actress has acted in over twenty films.

Bhumika Chawla was born21 August 1978 in New Delhi in a Punjabi family. She is the daughter of an army officer father. She did her schooling from Delhi. Later she went to Mumbai where she started working in commercials and some music videos. She also worked in Hip Hip Hurray a popular program on Zee TV. It was the time when latest news of Bhumika Chawla started appearing in media.

Her acting career started with a role in the Telugu film named Yuvakudu in the year 2000 where she was starred opposite actor Sumanth. She tasted success with Khushi a Telugu film. She got Filmfare Award for Best Actress - Telugu for her performance in the film. And after doing half a dozen films in regional cinema she got a chance to work in the Hindi Movie Tere Naam where she was paired with Salman Khan. The movie was a commercial success and Bhumika got nomination for various award and won Zee Cine Award for Best Female Debut. And the rest as they say is history. Later she acted in a number of films but with little success. But even then latest news Bhumika Chawla was a routine affair.

Bhumika Chawla is happily married to Yoga teacher Bharat Thakur.
