Beautifully snuggled amidst the Western Ghats, the city is a fine amalgamation of old and new. The old part of the city is largely known for cotton and silk weaving units while the modern city has all the features of a modern township. It offers a great value for traditions as it is elegantly dotted with temples and churches. The city has a rich cultures heritage which need to be showcased properly.

The Culture of Belgaum is a perfect fusion of cultures of Karnataka, Maharashtra and Goa as it lies very close to these states. One can find vibrancy of Goa, glitter of Maharashtra with all the characteristics of the culture of Karnataka. The history of Belgaum can be traced back to 2nd Century A.D. There are numerous structures in the city that speaks volumes about the history of this city in the state of Karnataka.

Due to heavy rainfall the city is also called Malenadu or Rain Country and the vegetation. It is why you can find large stretches of greenery round the year. Over the years, the city has improved for better and Belgaum has been metamorphosed into a city with all the salient features of modernity. Owing to these developments government of Karnataka has proposed to make it second capital. The city lies midway between Mumbai and Bangalore and has potential to emerge as a city of future.
