Ranbaxy Laboratories Limited, the largest pharmaceutical company of India, is one among the top 10 generic drug making firm in the world. Incorporated in 1961, it markets in 125 countries with ground operations in 49 and manufacturing facilities in eleven countries. It produces a wide range of drugs in which its Anti-infectives amoxycillin, ciprofloxacin, and simvastatin are the most sellable drugs. Moreover, it also addresses gastrointestinal, cardiovascular, diabetes, pain, allergies, and HIV/AIDS as well as central nervous system disorders diseases. Its groundbreaking anti-malarial drug is still under trial and soon to be come in the market for countering falciparum malaria. In research field, it basically focuses on metabolic, inflammatory, and respiratory illnesses.

Japanese firm Daiichi Sankyo Company Ltd., in June 2008 has acquired this company. After that its global rank reached to among top 15 companies of the world. However, Malvinder Mohan Singh is still the Chairman, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Ranbaxy.
