The Hubble Space Telescope is the first man made astronomical observatory sent into space orbit. It was named after American astronomer Edwin Powell Hubble (1889?1953), Edwin Powell was a scientist specialized in the study of outer space and observed that the universe is expanding. The Hubble was launched on April 25, 1990, from the space shuttle Discovery. The Hubble telescope has a 26-meter mirror that allows it to make observations twenty-four hours a day. The mirror is always clear and has perfect vision. The observatory also has two high-resolution cameras and two spectrographs. Hubble has helped to resolve some long-standing problems in astronomy, as well as put up new questions that required new theories to explain them. Hubble weighs about 11,110 kg. It circles the Earth every 96?97 minutes and orbiting at a speed of 7,500 m/s (16,800 mph). Hubble also referred as giant eyes in the sky that keeps track on celestial happenings and sends regarding information.
