IPL season 5 2012 starting date has been announced and this T20 cricket tournament will commence from 4th of April 2012. Indian Premier League was started by BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) in the year 2008. Since then it has been played every year and 2012 will see its fifth season.

The gates of IPL season 5 will flood open for fans with the opening ceremony to be held in YMCA, Chennai on 3rd of April 2012.

IPL is one of the most earning T20 tournaments of the world and cricketers from almost every cricket-playing nation participate in this tournament.

This year IPL tournament will continue for 54 days during which 9 teams will fight each other in 76 matches. And on 27th of May the winner will emerge out of them.

First match of IPL 2012 will be played between defending champion Chennai Super Kings, which is led by M.S. Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar's Mumbai Indians. It will be played in the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium of Chennai. Chennai Super Kings have retained the title for two consecutive year and are one of the favorites to win this year's IPL too.
