Parkash Singh Badal
Parkash Singh Badal is the oldest politician in the state of Punjab. Born in 1927 Badal made his entry in to politics in 1947 when he was elected to state legislative assembly of Punjab in 1957. For the second time Parkash Badal was nominated to state assembly in 1969 and for short time served as the minister of panchayatiraj, community development and fishing in the state government.
Badal had also been the union minister in the cabinet of Morarji Desai in the center. Parkash Singh Badal has been leading the major political party Shiromani Akali Dal of the state having large support of the people.
Badal is the most popular chief minister of Punjab after finishing three successive terms as the chief minister and is continuing for the fourth time. 1970-71, 1977-80, 1997-2002, 2007-onwards are the timings of Parkash Singh Badal as the chief minister in the Sikh state.
