Christmas Celebration in Rome

Christmas is considered to be a highly religious tradition in Rome and it is celebrated with friends and family with great joy and enthusiasm. One of the most significant components of Christmas in Rome is the elaborately prepared meal, usually for many persons and often accompanied by entertainment and banquet. On Christmas day, Pope showers his blessings in Saint Peter's Square. People decorate their homes with Christmas candles, dazzling lights, Christmas tree and Christmas flowers. Through out the city beautiful scenery is enhanced with huge figures of Mary, Joseph, the baby Jesus, and angels and shepherds. Christmas Eve is followed by a grand meal after returning home. . Traditional Christmas Eve meal in Rome is made up of 20 fish dishes some of them are roasted, baked or fried.
