Christmas Celebration in Jerusalem
It’s a little town and native birthplace of Lord Jesus. At the place of Lord Jesus birth a church was erected and it is decorated with flags. On Christmas Eve native and visitors stand on the roof to watch the dramatic annual procession. The parade lead by galloping horseman and police mounted on Arabian horse. Solitary horseman carrying a cross and sitting astride a coal-black steed follows them. After this come churchmen and government officials. Then this procession enters the places where an effigy of the Holy Child in the church is kept. Then visitor and procession moves to a cave with deep curved stairs where a silver star is kept as mark of birthplace of Lord Jesus. Every house in Bethlehem is displayed with homemade manger and cross-painted over their door. A big and bright star was set on a pole in the middle of town as sign of good luck and fortune.
