IPL 2009 Cricket Extravaganza is Back

The 39-day IPL festival between 8 teams got off to an exhilarating start on April 18 in Cape Town, South Africa and will continue till 24th May when the final will be played at Johannesburg. Eight teams are participating in IPL 2009 season – Delhi Daredevils, Rajasthan Royals, Kings XI Punjab, Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Chennai Super Kings, Bangalore Royal Challengers and Deccan Chargers.

Millions of IPL cricket fans are expected to catch the event live, in South Africa and on their television screens in India and other countries. IPL 2009 will comprise of 56 league matches in which every team will play every other team twice (at home and away, EPL style), the top four IPL teams i.e. four IPL teams with the highest points will advance to the semi-final stage of the IPL. After the two IPL semi finals, two teams will play out the IPL final on 24th May in Johannesburg. So, there will be 59 IPL matches in all in the IPL second season.

Maximum four foreign players can be inducted into one IPL team while the rest have to necessarily be Indians. So get set for the IPL 2009 treat with popcorn, coke by your side, and of course, loads of enthusiasm.
